# Check and fix your cron jobs from an AI chat.

Checking on a job usually means logging into a machine. norc-mcp is an MCP server that connects Claude, ChatGPT and other AI chat clients to your norc account. Ask which jobs exist, check run history or change a schedule.

Thin and stateless: it holds no secrets of its own. MIT licensed.

› Move my nightly backup job to 4am.
calling update\_job({ id: "6d4f1b2e-8a3c-4f71-9b0d-2c5e7a1f4d90", schedule: "0 4 \* \* \*" })
Done. Your nightly backup now runs at 4:00 AM daily.

Generate a norc API key (vault → Settings → API Keys → Generate key), then pick a channel. Remote clients use the hosted URL with the key as the Bearer token; the commands below read it from NORC\_API\_KEY. Claude Desktop and the Claude Code plugin run norc-mcp locally over stdio instead.

[Add to Cursor](https://cursor.com/en/install-mcp?name=norc&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL21jcC5ub3JjLmFwcC9tY3AiLCJoZWFkZXJzIjp7IkF1dGhvcml6YXRpb24iOiJCZWFyZXIgJHtlbnY6Tk9SQ19BUElfS0VZfSJ9fQ%3D%3D) [Install in VS Code](https://vscode.dev/redirect/mcp/install?name=norc&inputs=%5B%7B%22type%22%3A%22promptString%22%2C%22id%22%3A%22norc_api_key%22%2C%22description%22%3A%22norc%20API%20key%20(vault%20%E2%86%92%20Settings%20%E2%86%92%20API%20Keys)%22%2C%22password%22%3Atrue%7D%5D&config=%7B%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fmcp.norc.app%2Fmcp%22%2C%22headers%22%3A%7B%22Authorization%22%3A%22Bearer%20%24%7Binput%3Anorc_api_key%7D%22%7D%7D)

One click adds the hosted server. VS Code asks for your API key once and stores it as a secret. Cursor reads NORC\_API\_KEY from your environment, or paste the key into the Authorization header in Cursor's MCP settings.

A self-hosted norc-mcp still talks to the hosted vault API (or your own `$NORC_VAULT_URL`).

## Ask a question. See the result.

norc-mcp passes your API key to the vault, and the vault's answer comes back into the chat.

› Have any jobs failed recently?
calling list\_runs({ status: "failed" })
The latest failure is pg-backup-nightly on db-prod-01, at 2:00 AM. Want to see its output?

## What it can do

Four for jobs, three for machines, one for run history, one for GitOps sync.

### Jobs

list\_jobs, create\_job, update\_job, delete\_job: read and edit your cron jobs from the conversation.

### Machines

list\_machines, rename\_machine, delete\_machine: see and manage every paired machine on your account.

### Runs

list\_runs: check when jobs ran and what they returned, without leaving the chat. Useful when you suspect a job never ran.

### GitOps

sync\_jobs: preview and apply a complete desired job set. Defaults to a dry run; with apply=true, jobs missing from the set are deleted. Requires the GitOps sync feature on your account.

### Open source

MIT licensed and public. Audit it, self-host it or run it locally with npx. The rest of norc is closed source.

One API key lets your AI chat check and change your norc jobs.
